Anne Hathaway praises 'Wuthering Heights' and tells fans 'You aren’t ready'
Anne Hathaway says ‘You aren’t ready’ after early screening of 'Wuthering Heights'

Anne Hathaway has shared her reaction to Wuthering Heights after attending an early screening of the new adaptation, and her comments have circulated widely online.
The actor posted her response on Instagram Stories ahead of the film’s February 13 release. “I saw an early screening of #Wuthering Heights. You aren’t ready. Consider yourself warned. Congrats to all involved,” Hathaway wrote.
The film, directed by Emerald Fennell, stars Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie in a retelling of Emily Brontë’s novel. The adaptation has generated discussion for its approach to the source material, with commentary focusing on its emphasis on sensuality and the on-screen chemistry between its lead actors.
Critical response has been mixed. Some reviewers have described the film as provocative in tone, while others have debated its creative direction.
Prior to release, casting choices also prompted discussion online. Elordi portrays Heathcliff, a character originally written as dark-skinned, while Robbie, aged 35, plays 19-year-old Catherine.
Despite the debate, the production, made on an $80 million budget, has drawn significant audience interest at the box office.
Hathaway’s endorsement adds to the ongoing conversation around the film. Her message did not expand on specific elements of the adaptation but signalled strong approval.
The actor has several projects of her own in development. She is set to reprise her role in The Devil Wears Prada 2 and will appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey as Penelope. Additional forthcoming titles include Verity, Mother Mary and Flowervale Street.
Wuthering Heights continues its theatrical run following its mid-February debut.
