Prime Video has released the first teaser trailer for Spider-Noir, offering a first look at Nicolas Cage in his first leading television role.

The live-action series is based on the Marvel Comics Spider-Verse character and is set in 1930s New York. Cage plays Ben Reilly, described as an ageing and down-on-his-luck private investigator who must confront his past as the city’s only superhero.

The teaser presents Cage both as a weary detective and a black-clad web-slinger. It features the tagline: “With No Power Comes No Responsibility.”

Spider-Noir will premiere on May 27, with all episodes released at once for streaming on Prime Video. The series will be available in two formats: “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color”. The original comic iteration of the character was known for its muted, monochromatic style.

The cast includes Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson.

The project is produced by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video. Harry Bradbeer directed and executive produced the first two episodes.

Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series alongside Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, who were previously involved in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Spider-Noir marks Cage’s first leading role in a television drama, following a career primarily focused on film. The series expands Prime Video’s slate of comic book adaptations and adds another live-action entry to the wider Spider-Verse franchise.
