Bijou Phillips, the 45-year-old actress, is currently hospitalised and undergoing dialysis as she searches for a living kidney donor. Phillips shared her plea on Instagram on February 11, describing her urgent need and explaining the impact on her life and family.

“I need help finding a kidney. I'm asking as a friend, a sister, an aunt, and most important, a single mother to an incredible and brave daughter,” Phillips wrote, referring to her 11-year-old daughter Fianna, whom she shares with ex-husband Danny Masterson.

Born with underdeveloped kidneys, Phillips spent the first three months of her life in the NICU on dialysis. She received her first kidney transplant in 2017 from a friend, which allowed her to spend eight years as a mother before complications arose.

Phillips reported that the BK virus, a latent virus reactivated by anti-rejection medication, caused both cellular and antibody rejection in her first transplant.

“In 2017, I received the incredible gift of a kidney from a dear friend. That transplant gave me 8 precious years to be a mother to my daughter—but I have had many complications since,” she wrote.

Phillips is under the care of Dr Anjay Rastogi at UCLA and is actively seeking a compatible living donor. She encouraged potential donors to apply via a link in her Instagram bio, emphasising the urgency: “Time is of the essence.”

Her representative confirmed that Phillips has been privately managing dialysis while maintaining a vegan diet and a low-stress lifestyle. The actress expressed gratitude for any support and highlighted the importance of finding a donor to continue spending time with her daughter, family, and friends.
