‘F1’ sequel in development as producer confirms follow-up to Brad Pitt hit
A sequel to Brad Pitt’s F1 is officially in development, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed

A sequel to the Brad Pitt-led racing drama F1 is officially moving forward, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed in an interview with the BBC.
Speaking at the Academy Awards luncheon in Los Angeles, Bruckheimer told the BBC that work has begun on a follow-up to the high-octane film, which starred Pitt as veteran driver Sonny Hayes returning to the Formula 1 grid with fictional team APXGP.
While he did not share details about the timeline or casting, Bruckheimer said discussions are underway. It remains unclear whether Pitt will reprise his role, though the producer indicated he would be involved in major creative decisions.
Released last summer, F1 became Apple Original Films’ highest-grossing theatrical release, earning $630 million worldwide. The production filmed scenes during real Formula 1 race weekends across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, adding authenticity to the story.
The film, co-produced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, has earned four Oscar nominations this year, including a nod for best picture.
Bruckheimer, whose upcoming slate also includes projects tied to Top Gun, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Heat, said he remains optimistic about the future of theatrical releases, emphasizing that audiences continue to seek compelling big-screen experiences.
