Fresh off his role in the hit series Heated Rivalry, François Arnaud is stepping into the spotlight once again with the survival thriller Someone’s Daughter.

The first-look images from the upcoming film have been released as Canadian distributor Filmoption launches world sales at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.

Written and directed by Wiebke von Carolsfeld, who co-wrote the screenplay with Doug Taylor, the film recently wrapped production. The project adds to von Carolsfeld’s body of work, which includes Marion Bridge, Stay, and The Saver. Producers Frederic Bohbot and Kacim Steets Azouz are backing the feature, with Robert Vroom serving as executive producer.

Arnaud, also recognized for his performance in The Borgias, stars alongside Pascale Bussières, Michael Greyeyes, and Peter Outerbridge. The film centers on Sam, a criminal defense lawyer in her 50s who is kidnapped and left on a remote island with Paul — a former client she defended years earlier against serious criminal accusations.

As the two attempt to survive the harsh Canadian wilderness, they develop an uneasy alliance. However, Paul’s increasingly troubling behavior forces Sam into a high-stakes moral dilemma, blending psychological tension with the physical dangers of isolation.

The survival drama is expected to attract attention at EFM, one of the film industry’s key international marketplaces, where distributors and buyers gather to secure upcoming titles. With Arnaud’s rising profile following Heated Rivalry, early buzz suggests Someone’s Daughter could become a notable entry in the thriller landscape.

Further details regarding the film’s release date and distribution partners are anticipated as sales discussions continue in Berlin.
