Jonathan Nolan calls brother Christopher Nolan’s 'The Odyssey' a 'spectacular' and 'tremendous' achievement
'I had some fun conversations with Chris about where he’s taking it. It’s a spectacular film,' Jonathan said

Jonathan Nolan has delivered glowing early praise for his brother Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey, sharing full quotes from his first reaction to the highly anticipated film ahead of its 2026 release. Speaking candidly about the project, Jonathan made it clear that the adaptation left a strong impression on him.
“I’m not working on The Odyssey. I have seen The Odyssey. It’s tremendous. It’s an incredible achievement,” Jonathan Nolan said. Reflecting on his long-standing connection to the source material, he added, “I was fascinated by the Iliad and The Odyssey when I was younger, and I had some fun conversations with Chris about where he’s taking it. It’s a spectacular film.”
Jonathan also jokingly acknowledged the secrecy surrounding the project, saying, “I’m not sure I’m supposed to say that, but, yes, it’s tremendous,” underscoring both his excitement and the tightly guarded nature of Christopher Nolan’s films ahead of release.
Directed by Christopher Nolan and shot entirely on IMAX cameras, The Odyssey is a large-scale adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic, following Odysseus on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. Matt Damon stars in the lead role, supported by an ensemble cast that includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong’o.
Jonathan Nolan’s enthusiastic comments have further fueled anticipation around the film, which is already being positioned as one of the biggest cinematic events of 2026. With its epic scope, classical roots and cutting-edge filmmaking, The Odyssey is shaping up to be one of Christopher Nolan’s most ambitious and closely watched projects to date.
