Jennifer Davidson named chief marketing, communications, and content officer, heading new Academy Studios

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has promoted Jennifer Davidson to the role of chief marketing, communications, and content officer, expanding her responsibilities across all Academy divisions.
In her new position, Davidson will also oversee the newly launched Academy Studios, an in-house production unit focused on creating digital content, including interviews, videos, livestreams, and podcasts.
Davidson previously managed marketing, audience development, communications, digital and social media, and creative brand strategy for the Academy, the Oscars, the Academy Foundation, and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The establishment of Academy Studios aims to enhance the organization’s digital storytelling, highlight filmmakers’ work, and engage global audiences through innovative platforms.
Bill Kramer, Academy CEO, praised Davidson as a “dynamic, forward-thinking leader,” emphasizing that her creative vision and leadership of Academy Studios will strengthen the Academy’s cultural relevance and public engagement. Davidson expressed excitement about expanding the Academy’s storytelling reach, preserving film history, and creating new ways to engage audiences.
Davidson joined the Academy in 2019 as a communications consultant and became executive vice president in March 2020. She was promoted to chief communications officer in December 2021 and later became chief marketing and communications officer in May 2024. Sources note she is well regarded by the Board of Governors and maintains strong professional relationships with senior leadership.
The Oscars telecast continues to be the Academy’s flagship event, with 2025 viewership reaching a five-year high of 19.7 million and a 19% ratings increase among adults 18-49. The upcoming 98th Oscars ceremony, hosted by Conan O’Brien, will take place on March 15, with films like Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another leading nominations.
