Gucci Mane reflects on apologizing to Drake, forgiving Young Thug
Gucci Mane reflects on mental health, apologizing to Drake, and forgiving Young Thug during Big Facts podcast

In a recent interview on Revolt’s Big Facts podcast, Gucci Mane opened up about his journey toward accountability and forgiveness, revealing personal insights about past conflicts with fellow artists, including Drake and Young Thug.
During the conversation with hosts DJ Scream and Big Bank, the Atlanta rapper revisited his controversial 2013 Twitter meltdown, where he publicly lashed out at many in the hip-hop community, including Drake. Gucci, who later served time in prison and was released in 2016, said he has since reached out to several people he offended during that period, attributing his behavior to a personal crisis.
“I was going through something,” Gucci said. “I texted [Drake] some crazy stuff, but I hit him back like, ‘I’m sorry.’ And he was like, ‘We can get past that. Brothers go through stuff.’” Gucci described the response as deeply meaningful, noting how good it felt to be understood and forgiven.

He also acknowledged that not everyone was receptive to his apologies. “Some people don’t want to hear it,” he admitted. “But a lot of people were like, ‘Man, we gonna get past that.’ I’m appreciative of that.”
Turning to a more recent controversy, Gucci addressed a leaked jail call in which Young Thug allegedly called him “soft,” a comment made after Gucci’s transformation and commitment to a healthier lifestyle. Rather than taking offense, Gucci chose compassion. He referenced Thug’s 2024 track “I Miss My Dawgs” as an indirect apology and said he accepted it without hesitation.
“I immediately accepted the apology,” he said. “Because I’ve been there. I wanted somebody to forgive me too.”
Gucci concluded the interview by emphasizing how forgiveness has shaped his growth, saying, “It’s like a weight on you when you just want somebody to say, ‘Bruh, it’s okay.’ I forgive him.”
The interview coincides with the release of his new double album Episodes, and a book of the same name, further cementing Gucci’s evolution from controversy to clarity.
