Brian Cox to play infamous New York Ripper in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ season 2
Brian Cox will portray Dom Framt, the New York Ripper, in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ season 2 on Paramount+

Brian Cox has been confirmed as the latest cast member of Dexter: Resurrection, set to star as Dom Framt, the notorious New York Ripper. The character, first introduced in Season 1 but unseen on screen, is a serial killer who terrorised New York years ago. Although no longer actively killing, Framt maintains his infamy by haunting the survivors of his past crimes.
Framt’s storyline will expand in Season 2, following clues discovered by Michael C. Hall’s Dexter and Kadia Saraf’s Detective Claudette Wallace in Season 1, where a file on Framt was found in Leon Prater’s (Peter Dinklage) vault. This sets up a chilling continuation of his legacy in the new season.
Cox is no stranger to dark roles, having portrayed the legendary Hannibal Lecter in the 1986 film Manhunter. In television, he has received critical acclaim for his work as Logan Roy in Succession, earning three Emmy nominations and winning a Golden Globe in 2020. His diverse career also includes roles in major films such as the Jason Bourne series, X2, Troy, and Coriolanus, showcasing his range from intense drama to historical epics.
Dexter: Resurrection is developed by original series creator Clyde Phillips, who serves as showrunner and executive producer. Hall also returns as executive producer alongside a team including Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, and Tony Hernandez. The series is a Paramount+ production from Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios.
Cox’s addition signals a darker, more suspenseful turn for Season 2, with fans eager to see how the New York Ripper will challenge Dexter’s world. The casting of a seasoned actor like Cox promises a performance that blends chilling menace with psychological depth, ensuring that Dom Framt will be a memorable villain for the franchise’s return.
With production underway, Paramount+ is positioning Season 2 as a must-watch continuation, combining the franchise’s classic tension with new layers of intrigue and horror. Online reactions to Cox’s casting have been enthusiastic, reflecting his reputation for compelling performances in both film and television.
