Kate McKinnon has officially joined the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 as Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.

The Emmy-winning comedian will appear as a recurring guest star in the upcoming Disney+ fantasy series.

According to the show’s official description, Aphrodite “can alter her appearance depending on the beholder” and will test Percy Jackson’s (played by Walker Scobell) understanding of love before offering him aid on his latest quest. Season 3 is based on The Titan’s Curse, the third installment in Rick Riordan’s bestselling Percy Jackson book series.

McKinnon is best known for her decade-long run on “Saturday Night Live” (2012–2022), where she earned 10 Emmy nominations and won twice. Her film credits include Ghostbusters (2016), The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018), Bombshell (2019), and Barbie (2023), where she played Weird Barbie. She also portrayed Carole Baskin in Peacock’s Joe vs. Carole (2022) and will next appear in Andrew Stanton’s upcoming Hulu sci-fi film In the Blink of an Eye.

The Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians was co-created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, with Dan Shotz serving as showrunner. The main cast includes Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer.

Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres on December 10, 2025, while production for season 3 is currently underway in Vancouver. The new season continues the journey of demigods as they face new gods, monsters, and mythological challenges.
