Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe are reportedly stepping back from public exchanges with J.K. Rowling, with insiders suggesting the actors feel they cannot avoid further criticism from the author.
According to sources cited by #ShuterScoop, the two Harry Potter stars have grown tired of ongoing tensions with Rowling. “They can’t win. Every time they comment, Rowling fires back and it spirals into another war,” one insider said. The actors now see withdrawal as the only way to prevent further conflict.
Watson recently attempted to bridge differences by calling Rowling “treasured” despite their disagreements, but insiders claimed the gesture only intensified criticism. “Emma thought compassion might heal things. It just made it worse,” one source added.
Radcliffe has also remained cautious, with the insider noting, “He knows if he opens his mouth, it’ll become fuel for another Rowling tirade. It’s lose-lose.”
The dispute stems from Rowling’s widely debated comments on transgender rights in 2020, which prompted public responses from Watson, Radcliffe, and other Harry Potter actors.
Watson has previously said, “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are.”
Rowling has continued to criticise Watson and Radcliffe, repeating her views while addressing their past comments. Recently, she posted on X that Watson “has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is,” referencing a note she claimed Watson once sent her during a period of backlash.
The author added, “The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me … I might never have been this honest.”
These exchanges highlight that tensions between Rowling and the actors remain unresolved.
