Ryan Reynolds has once again fuelled speculation about a potential Deadpool cameo in Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday. The actor, who has become synonymous with the wisecracking antihero, was pressed about his involvement during the Toronto International Film Festival, where he was promoting a John Candy documentary he produced with Colin Hanks.

In an interview, Reynolds was asked directly if Deadpool would appear in Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. His response was characteristically playful. He joked that he had written Easter eggs for the film at home in his pyjamas but insisted that he had not set foot on the production’s London set.

The comment comes after Reynolds sparked a frenzy last month by posting a graffiti-marked Avengers logo on social media, which many fans interpreted as confirmation of Deadpool’s involvement. While Marvel has yet to make any official announcements, industry reports suggest the character has not been spotted on set and may not feature in the film at all.

Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release on 18 December 2026, is one of Marvel’s most anticipated projects. The film will centre heavily on the return of the X-Men, with legendary actors Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden and Channing Tatum confirmed to reprise their roles. The possible inclusion of Deadpool would connect Marvel’s expanding universe even more tightly, making Reynolds’ evasiveness all the more intriguing to fans.

Online reaction to Reynolds’ remarks has been split. Some fans believe his denials are simply part of a larger marketing strategy, noting Marvel’s history of secrecy around major cameos. Others feel his bluntness means Deadpool may not appear at all, leaving the door open for a surprise reveal closer to release.

For now, Reynolds seems to enjoy keeping audiences guessing. With his history of self-aware humour and his unique relationship with the fan base, even a simple quip is enough to send speculation soaring. Whether Deadpool actually suits up in Avengers: Doomsday or not, the buzz surrounding Reynolds’ comments ensures the film will remain firmly on fans’ radar until it hits cinemas.
