The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final installment in the Conjuring Universe, has delivered an impressive debut at the global box office.
The film earned around $30 million on its opening day, including Thursday previews, positioning it for a projected $60–$65 million opening weekend. If it maintains this pace, it could surpass The Nun’s $53.8 million mark and set a new record for the franchise.
Directed by Michael Chaves and starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, the film includes flashbacks featuring younger versions of the characters, played by Madison Lawlor and Orion Smith.
This creative choice replaced an initial plan to use digital de-aging, following input from Farmiga.
With both strong domestic and international performances, The Conjuring: Last Rites is on track to become one of the most successful entries in the long-running horror franchise, which has grossed over $2 billion worldwide since 2013.
