Mark Ruffalo is weighing in on speculation about his return as the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reports surfaced in August that the Oscar-nominated actor was in talks to reprise his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth standalone film in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series. However, Ruffalo clarified in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight that his involvement has not yet been confirmed.

“I don’t know! I’m still waiting to hear,” Ruffalo said when asked about returning as Bruce Banner. “I haven’t read a script yet. If it does happen, it would be incredible.”

The actor praised the Marvel experience, adding: “I grew up with this. It’s changed my life in the best ways. Each time it’s a new director and a new world… it’s so exciting. There’s nothing else like it.”

Ruffalo’s most recent MCU appearance was in the 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. His last big-screen role as the Hulk came in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see Tom Holland return alongside Zendaya as M.J. and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds. The film will also feature Jon Bernthal reprising his role as the Punisher, with new cast members Sadie Sink, Trammel Tillman and Liza Colón-Zayas joining the ensemble. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), the film is set to open in theaters on July 31, 2026, via Sony Pictures.
