Caitlyn Jenner has spoken publicly for the first time about the death of her close friend and former manager Sophia Hutchins, who died in a fatal ATV accident in Malibu in July at the age of 29.

“Recently my good friend Sophia passed away in a tragic accident,” Jenner, 75, said during a recent appearance on Fox. “For the last seven weeks, I've been dealing with death, and it's so difficult.”

Jenner, who has been grieving privately, connected her loss to the tragic August 27 school shooting in Minneapolis, saying she empathized with the pain of families who lost children. “I’ve been dealing with grief, and these people have a long road ahead of them,” she said.

Hutchins’ death was ruled accidental by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office. She sustained multiple blunt force injuries after her four-wheeler rear-ended a car and veered off a 350-foot cliff, authorities confirmed.

Hutchins was more than a business partner to Jenner; the two were inseparable for over a decade. They first met through a makeup artist and quickly bonded over humor and friendship. Hutchins later became Jenner’s manager, with Jenner once describing her as “one of the top minds in her field” and praising her entrepreneurial drive.

Their long-standing friendship was often visible at public events, from the Vanity Fair Oscar Party to family gatherings with the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

For Jenner, Hutchins’ sudden death marks the loss of someone she considered family. “Her value in my life is undeniable,” Jenner previously told The New York Times.
