Harris said he is “absolutely gutted” by the loss. He also posted a photo of himself holding Smokey, accompanied by the Smokey Robinson track My Love for You.

Just over a year earlier, Harris had shared an Instagram video of his newborn chicks, asking followers how best to keep them hydrated. “Tried some watermelon on the little fellas this morning and it went down a treat as expected. What keeps your newborn baby chicks hydrated? Let me know in the comments!” he wrote.

Harris joins other celebrities who have kept chickens as pets.

In 2018, Jennifer Garner mourned the loss of her chicken Regina George, while in 2023 Zayn Malik revealed he avoids naming his six chickens after one died in his arms. That same year, Victoria and David Beckham were gifted several chickens for Christmas.
