Zara McDermott and Louis Tomlinson have confirmed their relationship on social media after months of speculation. On August 4, McDermott shared a selfie on Instagram showing the couple kissing, accompanied by a simple red heart emoji. The post marked their first public acknowledgment of their romance online.

The former Love Island star and One Direction singer were first linked earlier this year after being spotted on a private date. They reportedly began dating in early 2025 and went Instagram official in June after appearing together at Glastonbury Festival, where they were seen displaying affection in a TikTok video.

McDermott’s latest post quickly attracted attention, with fans flooding the comments in excitement. Messages included “LOVE YOU GUYS,” “Favourite couple,” and “OMFG THE HARD LAUNCH.” Actress Ellie Leach, a close friend of McDermott’s, commented, “soooooo here for this.”

Despite their growing romance, the relationship has seen some public tension. In June, Tomlinson encountered McDermott’s ex-boyfriend, Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson, at the Soccer Aid charity match. According to the Daily Mail, the two had held peace talks at the team hotel, but Tomlinson reportedly ignored Thompson following the match.

McDermott and Thompson ended their five-year relationship in December 2024. Speaking to The Sun, McDermott later shared that public scrutiny around her personal life has been “frustrating,” adding that she now values “real relationships and real support” over social media appearances.

Meanwhile, Thompson recently reflected on the emotional aftermath of the split during an episode of Pete Wicks’ Man Made podcast. He described the start of the year as “uncomfortable” and admitted he’s still learning to become more emotionally independent.
