Alexander Skarsgård has finally responded to speculation that Taylor Swift’s 2014 song Wildest Dreams is based on their brief time together.

While appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast, host Dax Shepard brought up a running joke with his daughter about the song and mentioned that many Swifties believe Wildest Dreams is about Skarsgård.

Shepard asked, “Do you have the same fear to either acknowledge or deny that that could be true because the power of the Swifties is so strong, you just don’t even want to talk about it?” Skarsgård replied simply, “Yeah.” He then added, “It’s about Brad Pitt,” followed by, “I wrote the lyrics to that song myself and sent it to Taylor.”

Fans have theorised for years that Wildest Dreams draws inspiration from Swift’s time filming The Giver in South Africa in 2013, where she and Skarsgård were seen together.

In the video for Wildest Dreams, released in 2015, Swift portrays a brunette actress entangled in a romantic film set in Africa, paralleling real-life details from her time with Skarsgård.

While Taylor Swift has never confirmed the song’s subject, she is known for embedding hints and coded messages in her lyrics. Over the years, her fans have grown adept at decoding lyrical Easter eggs.
