Jane Bright, known for her appearance on Survivor: Nicaragua, has passed away at the age of 71. Her daughter, Ashley Hammett, announced the news on Facebook after Bright’s body was found earlier this week in her North Carolina home. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Born on December 13, 1953, in Jackson Springs, North Carolina, Bright was a dog trainer before joining the CBS competition series in 2010. She competed in Season 21, which separated contestants into tribes based on age. As part of the older Espada tribe, Bright was praised for her strength and contributions, despite being the oldest contestant of the season. She was the 13th castaway voted off but won the audience-voted Sprint Fan Favorite award, along with a $100,000 prize.
Fans and fellow contestants remembered Bright fondly. Donathan Hurley, a contestant from Survivor: Ghost Island, called her “a firecracker” and shared his heartbreak on social media. He recalled her lively spirit and sense of humor, expressing deep sadness over her passing.
Bright’s legacy as a strong competitor and beloved personality on Survivor remains. She is mourned by the Survivor community and fans alike, who remember her for her resilience and vibrant personality.
