Frankie Muniz has shared the first look at the Malcolm in the Middle revival, reuniting with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek for a nostalgic on-screen family moment. The image, posted by Muniz on X (formerly Twitter), features the trio smiling together, echoing their iconic roles as Malcolm and his eccentric parents, Hal and Lois. Muniz captioned the photo, “Always good to have Mom and Dad around!”

The image marks the first glimpse of the Disney+ limited series, which features most of the original cast returning. Created by Linwood Boomer, the original series aired from 2000 to 2006 and became a defining sitcom of its time, known for its offbeat humour and heartfelt family dynamics. Returning cast members include Christopher Kennedy Masterson (Francis) and Justin Berfield (Reese).

Erik Per Sullivan, who originally played Malcolm’s younger brother Dewey, will not return, having retired from acting. The role will now be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. New additions to the cast include Anthony Timpano and Vaughan Murrae as younger siblings Jamie and Kelly, along with Kiana Madeira as Malcolm’s girlfriend, Tristan, and Keeley Karsten as his daughter, Leah.

“Malcolm in the Middle is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart, and relatability,” said Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television. She added that the revival will bring back the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved — along with a few new surprises.

With the original creative team on board, the series promises to deliver the same chaotic charm that made the original so beloved. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
