Demi Moore joins Charlize Theron and Julia Garner in Amazon MGM thriller 'Tyrant' set in NYC fine dining world

Demi Moore has officially joined the cast of Amazon MGM’s upcoming culinary thriller Tyrant, starring alongside Charlize Theron and Julia Garner, according to Variety, which first reported the news.
The film, titled Tyrant, is described as a high-stakes thriller set in New York City’s elite fine dining world, where ambition, power, and danger collide behind the scenes of luxury restaurants. The project is being developed under Amazon MGM Studios and is expected to begin filming in Los Angeles in the coming weeks.
Demi Moore’s casting adds further star power to the production as she continues a strong career resurgence following her critically acclaimed performance in The Substance. That role earned her major awards recognition, including a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award, and reestablished her as a leading figure in Hollywood’s prestige circuit.
Moore is also set to appear in upcoming projects such as Boots Riley’s I Love Boosters and continues her television work within Taylor Sheridan’s hit series Landman.
Tyrant is written and directed by David Weil, known for Hunters and Invasion. The film is produced by The Picture Company’s Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona, alongside Theron’s Secret Menu partners Beth Kono and A.J. Dix, as well as Weil and Natalie Laine Williams. The screenplay is based on a story by Weil and Cody Behan.
The film recently received a California Film Tax Credit, supporting its upcoming production schedule. Amazon MGM continues to expand its slate of high-profile projects, with Tyrant joining other anticipated titles such as Verity, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Spaceballs 2.
