Disney has released the first full-length trailer for its highly anticipated live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, set to hit theaters on May 23.

The film brings the beloved 2002 animated classic to life, following the heartwarming story of a young Hawaiian girl and her mischievous alien companion.

The trailer introduces Lilo, a lonely orphan searching for a best friend, who discovers Stitch after making a wish upon a shooting star. The blue extraterrestrial, also known as Experiment 626, is a chaos-loving creature, wreaking havoc in paradise. True to the original film’s themes, Lilo teaches Stitch the meaning of ohana—family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell With Shoes On), the movie stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Agudong as Nani, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, and Courtney B. Vance. Chris Sanders, co-director of the original film, reprises his role as the voice of Stitch.

Set against a tropical Hawaiian backdrop, the trailer features iconic music, including Elvis Presley’s You’re the Devil in Disguise and Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride. Fans get a glimpse of Stitch’s signature antics, from honking at drivers to chugging lava lamp liquid.

Lilo & Stitch is Disney’s second live-action remake of 2025, following Snow White. With past remakes like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin achieving mixed success, all eyes are on whether Stitch can capture box office magic once again.
