The High Powered Central Selection Board on Monday approved the promotion of 11 Grade 21 officers to Grade 22, raising the total number of recently promoted officers to the top-most grade to 47.
The board met here at the Cabinet Division with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair. It approved the promotion of 11 bureaucrats from the Information Group, Secretariat Group, Railways (CNT) Group, Economist Group and the Postal Group.
Last week, the board in its meeting, promoted 36 officers belonging to the Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service and Foreign Service to Grade 22. The latest promotions raised the number of promoted bureaucrats to 47.
The newly promoted officers included Information Secretary Ambreen Jan of the Information Group. Her promotion to Grade 22 completed a hat-trick of three consecutive women information secretaries. Previously Zahida Parveen and Shahira Shahid had served as the information secretaries.
Other promoted officers were Ayesha Humaira Chaudhry, Zahoor Ahmed, Dr Nawaz Ahmed, Hammad Shamimi and Muhammad Aslam Ghori of the Secretariat Group; Syed Mazhar, Shahzad Hassan and Syed Muhammad Ammar Naqvi of the Railways Group; Dr Imtiaz Ahmed of the Economist Group and Samiullah Khan of the Postal Group.
Meanwhile, the board did not discuss the promotions of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers from the Customs and the Inland Revenue because of a stay order issued by a court. The board would meet again on Tuesday (today) to discuss the promotion of officers to Grade 21 and Grade 20.
