Unidentified woman, infant found dead

Bodies found at Manaean dumping site

LAHORE:

Police found an unidentified young woman and a one-year-old child from a dumping site in Manawan, sparking a murder investigation.

According to the police, the bodies were found at a waste dumping station in Handoo Gujran.

Upon receiving information, local police rushed to the spot, took the bodies into custody and shifted them to a morgue for post-mortem examination.

Officials said the woman appeared to be around 22 years old, while the child was aged approximately one year.

The identities of the victims could not be ascertained till the evening.

The police stated that fingerprints of the deceased woman have been sent to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).to help ascertain her identity, while efforts are also under way to trace vehicles that transported garbage to the dumping site.

Investigators were examining whether the bodies had been dumped during routine waste disposal and were questioning the sanitation staff and contractors associated with garbage transportation in the area.

A police spokesperson said all possible angles of the case were being thoroughly investigated.
