LAHORE:

The Punjab government has reshuffled the medical superintendents (MS) of several major teaching hospitals across the province.

According to official orders, Professor Dr Hafeez Moeenuddin has been appointed as the Medical Superintendent of Jinnah Hospital Lahore. The hospital is one of the largest public healthcare facilities in Punjab and receives thousands of patients daily from Lahore and surrounding districts.

According to sources, managing patient load, shortage of staff and limited resources are likely to be a major challenge for the new MS.

In Bahawalpur, Dr Abdul Rehman has been posted as MS of the Bahawal Victoria teaching facility serving South Punjab. At the same time, Dr Ejaz Ahmed Butt has taken charge of Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi. The hospital's emergency services often remain under strain due to crowding and limited beds.

Several changes have also been made in Lahore's teaching hospitals, with Dr Mamoon Akbar Qureshi appointed MS of Mian Munshi District Headquarters Teaching Hospital, while Dr Rana Khurram Aftab has been posted as MS of Government Teaching Hospital, Shahdara.

In Multan, Dr Kamran Asif has assumed charge as MS of Children Hospital and Institute of Child Health. The hospital plays a critical role in paediatric care for South Punjab, where child health indicators remain poor. Dr Syed Fakhar Abbas Shah has been appointed MS of Nishtar II Hospital, another major facility in the city.

Other important postings include Dr Saud Afzal Aziz as MS of Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital, Gujrat and Dr Muhammad Sohail Khawaja at Dr Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital, Sargodha.

Dr Mansoor Ahmed Afghan has been appointed at Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital, Dera Ghazi Khan, while Dr Aamir Mahmood Bukhari has taken charge at Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan.
