Blake Lively has filed a request for a stronger protective order, citing violent threats targeting her, her family, and others involved in her ongoing lawsuit against actor-director Justin Baldoni.
The Hollywood legal battle, which began in December 2024, has garnered significant public attention, with Baldoni filing a counter-suit accusing Lively of defamation and reputational damage.
Lively’s legal team returned to court on Thursday, urging Judge Lewis J. Liman to increase protections due to the rising hostility surrounding the case. In a letter submitted to the court, her lawyers requested certain case materials be classified as "Attorney’s Eyes Only" to prevent sensitive details from further fueling public scrutiny and potential threats.
The request defines the restricted materials as those of a “highly confidential and personal, sensitive, or proprietary nature,” arguing that their disclosure could cause “competitive, business, commercial, financial, personal, or privacy injury.” Lively’s team also stated that the case involves “high-profile individuals, to whom a duty of confidentiality is owed.”
Legal documents further reveal that Lively, 37, along with her family, co-stars, and individuals supporting her publicly, has received "violent, profane, sexist, and threatening communications." While she has already been granted some court protection, the actress insists stronger measures are necessary to safeguard those connected to the case.
The lawsuit, which has also drawn in Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and sparked rumors about Taylor Swift’s indirect involvement, is set for trial in March 2026. The legal battle continues to unfold, with further motions expected in the coming months.
