CSI creator Anthony Zuiker wants AI to turn every crime into a live documentary
CSI creator Anthony Zuiker unveils AI-powered true crime app 'Cinemalistics' for real-time crime coverage

CSI creator Anthony Zuiker is developing a new AI-driven true crime platform called Cinemalistics, according to an exclusive report from Variety.
The project aims to transform how audiences consume crime stories by delivering AI-generated video coverage of criminal investigations as they unfold.
The upcoming app will produce cinematic and documentary-style vertical videos based on active crime cases, allowing users to follow developments in near real time. Unlike traditional true crime documentaries, which can take months or even years to reach audiences, Cinemalistics is designed to generate story updates within hours using publicly available information such as news reports, press conferences, social media posts and public records.
According to Variety, Zuiker is developing the platform alongside Kynetic Media Ventures founder David Freeman, technology entrepreneur Doug Scott and actor Donovan Leitch. The project is also part of Nvidia’s Innovation Lab for AI startups and is expected to make its public debut at Mipcom in Cannes later this year.
The platform will reportedly use a proprietary AI engine powered by Nvidia tools to create both cinematic and documentary versions of crime stories. As investigations evolve, the videos would update automatically to reflect newly available information. Users will also be able to access supporting materials, including media coverage, 911 calls, press conferences and official records.
Zuiker said the platform is committed to responsible storytelling and will avoid graphic depictions of violence. Instead, the focus will remain on investigations, forensic details and factual reporting while respecting victims and their families.
According to Variety, Cinemalistics plans to launch with both ad-supported and premium subscription options, with future ambitions including user-generated AI storytelling features supported by safety safeguards.
