Police have recovered an “abducted” girl and arrested the man who says he is her husband, according to a report submitted by SSP Investigation in the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday.
A police team, led by a DSP, recovered the teenage girl with the help of Sukkur police. The girl was located by her mobile phone’s call details record (CDR). The police team questioned four suspects in Sukkur, as per the police report.
Police said they found about the girl’s exact whereabouts from a Sukkur resident, Sikandar Sheikh. The girl had been living with Sikandar for two years. He told police that they were married and that the girl was his legally wedded wife. Sikandar has been taken into custody.
A case was registered at Gulberg police station on the complaint of the girl’s mother who claimed that her daughter was abducted on October 16, 2021 from Gulberg area. Samreen left work and never returned home, the complaint stated.
The SSP Investigation formed a special team on the orders of the SHC to recover the abducted girl.
Girl missing for six years
A two-judge bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the superintendent of police (SP) to personally investigate the case of a 16-year-old girl who went missing six years ago. The girl worked as domestic help at a residence near the Misri Shah shrine in the Phase VI area of DHA.
The SHC bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, issued the orders while hearing a petition filed by Abdul Hameed, the father of the missing girl.
The counsel for the petitioner submitted that a police investigation into the disappearance had been going on for the last six years, but there had been no progress.
“I want to know if my daughter is dead or alive,” the distraught father told the court.
Upon this, the jurist ordered the SP Investigation to lead the investigation of her whereabouts.
