SARGODHA:

A man and his family tortured his wife and shaved her head.

According to police officials, the family feared the woman would testify against them for having killed her mother. Police officials have arrested four people including the woman’s husband based on her testimony.

Sialkot resident Yasmeen told reporters that she had married Sargodha’s Chak-34 Janubi resident Muhammad Shahbaz five years ago. She said that on August 14, her husband, his brother Irshad, nephew Majid and brother-in-law Allah Data tortured her and shaved her head. “They locked me up in a room for three days without food until I finally managed to escape,” she said. Yasmeen said that on the fourth day her father rescued her and took her to the police station to file a case against Shahbaz and his family.

Yasmeen said that her mother had passed away four years ago under mysterious circumstances. “I discovered that Shahbaz had killed her. When I confronted him about it, he feared that I might tell the police so he tortured me and locked me in a room,” she said. “He threatened to kill me and poisoned me. My father eventually rescued me and I was hospitalised for several days,” she said.

Yasmeen has submitted an application with the Karhana police station, accusing Shahbaz of torture and her mother’s murder. Police officials have registered the case and are searching for the accused. Police officials said that they would conduct a thorough investigation of the murder charges and would proceed with the case after a medical report was received to prove torture.

Meanwhile, Yasmeen and her father have been offered police protection.
