Pakistan’s professional swimmer gunned down in Rawalpindi

Mustafa had represented the country in various international swimming competitions including the Olympics

RAWALPINDI:

Unidentified assailants shot dead a professional swimmer in the Dhok Faryal area of Jatli town in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. According to the police, the victim – identified as Mustafa – was on a visit to his home and standing outside his residence when he was gunned down.

Upon receiving information albout the killing, the police rushed to the scene of the incident and shifted the body to tehsil headquarters hospital for a postmortem procedure.

Taking notice of the incident, City Police Officer (CPO) Sajid Kayani has directed sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Gujjar Khan to probe the case from different angles and arrest the culprits immediately.

The top official also said that "those involved in the incident will be arrested and brought to justice".

Meanwhile, the police said that legal action has been initiated and an investigation is being carried out into the incident from all angles.

The law enforcement agency further said the victim had represented the country in various international swimming competitions, including the Olympics and World Swimming Championship held in Abu Dhabi last year.
