Actor Kriti Sanon will be stepping into the shoes of Uma Thurman to play her iconic role in the Hindi remake of the Quentin Tarantino classic Kill Bill. The project was picked up two years ago by producer Nikhil Dwivedi, and it will be directed by Gangs of Wasseypur director Anurag Kashyap. This will be Sanon’s first foray into action.

According to Pinkvillaa source said, “Nikhil has been working closely on the script of Kill Bill adaptation with Anurag Kashyap all through the lockdown. The duo is calling it a homage to the original film and have finally locked a script that does justice to the legacy of the Quentin Tarantino directorial. Anurag and Nikhil have now taken a step ahead to move on to the casting front and initiated conversations with Kriti Sanon to play the lead.”

The insider revealed that while an informal agreement has been reached between Sanon and the filmmakers, the paperwork will soon be complete as well. Sanon is reportedly going through a lot of prep for the action-packed role, with the source adding, “It’s the character of an assassin, termed as the deadliest woman in the world. The action aside, there runs a strong undercurrent of revenge and emotions all through the narrative, much like the original film.”

It continued, “It might take off by early next year, however, it’s all dependent on the Covid-19 scenario.” Sanon is currently busy wrapping up her film Adipurush, in which she plays the role of the goddess Sita. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan. She will also reportedly be starring in a remake of the South Indian blockbuster film Ala Vaikunthapuramaloo.

The film will also feature Sanon’s Luka Chuppi co-star Kartik Aaryan, as well as Manisha Koirala, according to Bollywood Hungama "Kriti has been finalised to essay Pooja Hegde's part from the original. But the makers were dilly-dallying about whom to approach to play Kartik's mother in the film. Initially, the team wanted to retain Tabu in the remake as well but since she and Kartik have already done a film together (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2), they wanted to look out for another actor," reported the outlet. The decision was then made to cast Koirala to play Tabu’s role.
