Stay order issued against parking plaza

Administration had demolished the Children’s World Park for this project

Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench Justice Muhammad Amir Bhatti has issued a stay order against construction of a commercial parking plaza in place of Children’s World Park in Satellite Town Commercial Market.

The court also restraining the ongoing tenders of the parking plaza.

Malik Saleh Mohammad Advocate told the court that the district administration had demolished the Children’s World Park and are now constructing parking plazas on the site of the park which is violating the basic right to healthy entertainment for children.

The counsel further maintained that the step was against the constitution and basic human rights articles of Pakistan. The constitution of Pakistan guarantees the basic human rights of people. The High Court has issued notices of a restraining order against the construction of a parking plaza on Children’s World Park.

Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation had demolished the 24-year-old park in March, when it was closed as part of preventive measure against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The RMC teams had razed the area to the ground and levelled it with heavy machinery.
