LBA summoned a meeting at Aiwan-e-Adl in connection with the failure of police officials to arrest the doctors by Saturday.
“We are now issuing a new deadline of December 2 and the police will have to ensure the arrest of those doctors who assaulted our colleagues. If the police fail, there will be no option will be left but to march towards PIC and take revenge,” warned a senior representative if the legal fraternity.
LBA President Asim Cheema said they would inform patients and their attendants a day before their march in order for the latter to shift loves ones to nearby hospitals.
Contempt proceedings
Meanwhile, Advocate Azhar Siddique filed a writ petition at the LHC, seeking orders to initiate contempt proceedings against doctors who went on strike despite Justice Jawad Hassan’s order of restrained them from doing the same.
The petitioner told the court that Justice Jawad Hassan told doctors not to go on strike. Regardless, he said that despite being told the contrary, doctors, after scuffling with lawyers, went on strike.
Justice Jawad Hassan passed an order in which doctors were told to call off strikes and resume duties immediately.
