
The blaze broke out on the fourth floor of Noor Trade Centre and trapped people on several floors.
Fire breaks out in 19-storey building on II Chundrigar Road
Rescue officials said several people used ropes to climb down from the top floors of the building while many were stuck on the rooftop as smoke filled the building.
Firefighters extinguished the fire with the aid of four fire tenders and two snorkels. Several water tankers were also rushed to the spot.
Police also confirmed the death of two people in the incident. “Both died while jumping off the building. The Noor Trade Centre is used entirely for commercial purposes.”.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and asked commissioner Karachi to control the blaze.

Governor Imran Ismail also ordered authorities concerned to rescue the people trapped inside the building on a priority basis.
Many buildings in Pakistan have lax health and safety standards, while Karachi’s fire-fighters are often equipped with poor and inadequate equipment.
