QUETTA: Caretaker Chief Minister Alauddin Marri on Wednesday said that the interim provincial government is responsible to provide a peaceful and conducive environment to voters during elections and protect their lives and property at every cost.
Addressing a news conference in Quetta’s local hotel after thorough discussion on CPEC with Chinese Consul General Wang Shung, Marri said, “Security arrangements for general elections have been completed in Balochistan and the interim government is satisfied by the performance of security forces…our forces have been determined to protect the lives and properties of the masses during elections.”
He said that security forces will be on high alert on election day to protect the voters across the province. “People of Balochistan should come out of their homes and vote for their respective candidates,” he added.
CM Marri says education only way out of poverty
With regards to the impartiality of elections, the CM said, “We have been focusing on holding free and fair elections and addressing the reservations and concerns of all political parties from the first day since the interim set-up was sworn in.”

Sharing the details of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with Chinese Consul General, Marri said that there were some reservations of Chinese government and within provincial government regarding multi billion dollars project, which have been addressed after assurances from both sides.
“Chinese CG and Chinese investors have briefed me regarding energy and infrastructure projects in Balochistan and we pledged full security for Chinese companies seeking to invest in the province,” he added.
He said that the Balochistan Inspector General (IG) briefed the Chinese delegation on security measures and “they are satisfied over the security plan on CPEC routes.”
The interim CM said that a free trade zone has been announced in Gwadar. “We want to build industries in all economic zones of Balochistan which could award jobs for educated youth of our province.”
Chinese Consul General Wang Shung while talking to journalists said that Balochistan is in the priority of Chinese Government as we want to build energy projects and infrastructure for the people of Balochistan in the first place.
CM Marri says no sympathy with any political party
“We have shared over concerns with Balochistan Government regarding land purchasing and NOCs, and the Interim CM assured us of quick action over our demands.” Wang Shung added.
Marri, Chinese diplomat visit hospital
Caretaker CM and Chinese Consul General also visited Civil Hospital Quetta on Wednesday.
Interim Health Minister Faiza Kakar, Secretary Saleh Muhammad Nasir, DC Quetta Captain Tahir Zafar Abbasi and other officials were accompanied with caretaker CM.
Marri and Chinese diplomat Wang Shung visited various departments of the Quetta’s major government hospital where the hospital administration informed them regarding their difficulties and needs. Later, Marri paid a visit of the land purchased for National University of Sciences and Technology.
