QUETTA:

Senior Baloch politician and former Senator Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani has strongly condemned the government's decision to erase the historical identity of Mastung by merging it with Quetta and incorporating Kachhi district into Sibi, calling it an attempt to undermine the region's historical significance.

Addressing a press conference at Sarawan House in Quetta on Sunday, Lashkari Raisani said that political workers and local people would unite to resist such moves through national solidarity, constitutional, legal, and democratic struggle.

He was flanked by Nawabzada Mir Rais Raisani, Haji Muhammad Anwar Shahwani, Haji Aziz Sarpara, Haji Ishaq Lahri, and other political figures.

Expressing grief over the recent bomb blast at Chaman Phatak in Quetta, Raisani said the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan is the direct result of flawed policies and their local facilitators. "Earlier, roads were unsafe. Now, even our people are not safe in cities," he remarked.

The former senator criticized the provincial government for creating new divisions and districts with the apparent aim of dismantling the historical status of various regions.

He pointed out that Mastung had historically served as the headquarters of Sarawan, while Kachhi also held its own distinct historical identity.
