KARACHI: Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal ordered on Friday an inquiry against the SHO of the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station for allegedly registering a fake case against four brothers regarding a vehicular accident with a police vehicle.

An accident FIR No. 133/17 was registered against Arshad, Aslam and their two other brothers for hitting a police vehicle from behind at the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station Thursday night. The case was lodged by Kamran, a police officer posted at the SITE police station, who took the four brothers to the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. In his statement recorded in the FIR, the complainant blamed the brothers for the entire episode saying that their vehicle hit the police van in a rear-end collision.

Case registered against suspended SHO, four other officials in Karachi

However, dents on both vehicles belied those claims as it was the private car whose rear-end was damaged. The police vehicle had dents on its front.

The home minister took notice of the case after media reports. He asked East DIG Arif Hanif to conduct an inquiry against the Gulshan-e-Maymar SHO, Fasi-uz-Zaman, and the officer, Kamran, for registering a fake case.
