This Ramazan take an alternative route, avoid the rush

Traffic police ease citizens’ way by mapping out alternative routes this holy month

KARACHI: Two days before Ramazan, the Karachi traffic police have advised residents to use alternative routes to avoid traffic jams in the holy month. The police have directed that the Lyari Expressway will be open from 2pm till 8pm from Maripur till Sohrab Goth.

According to the press statement, there will be 500 traffic police constables deployed from Tower to Quaidabad, Eidgah Chowk to Sohrab Goth, Gurumandir to Power House Chowrangi, Siemens Chowrangi till Mawach Goth and Garden Chowk till Habib Bank.

Apart from this, 1,300 police constables will perform their duties on roads. In order to make traffic movement smooth during the entire month, additional constables from the driving licence branch have also been deputed and 600 city wardens will perform their duties. For the areas where taraweeh prayers will be arranged, the traffic police have arranged alternative routes.

Congested areas

In case there is a traffic jam at Shaheen Complex Chowk, commuters travelling from II Chundrigar Road towards Saddar would be able to use the road going frp, Jang Press towards SM Law College and reach MR Kiyani Road.

For the commuters moving from II Chundrigar Road towards Saddar and find traffic jams on MR Kiyani Road, they will be able to use the PIDC route. Likewise, commuters travelling from Fawara Chowk towards Tower would be able to use Club Road.



In case of a traffic jam at Zainab Market, Court Road could be used and those making their way towards Saddar could use Club Road. Commuters who find a traffic jam at Lucky Star when going towards Sharae Faisal past Zainab Market can use Daudpota Road.

Those going towards the airport via the FTC Flyover can use Korangi Road and going through Shah Faisal Colony as an alternative route. To avoid traffic on Karsaz Road, commuters can use Stadium Road and Dalmia Road.

For those wanting to avoid traffic on Drigh Road when going towards the airport via Rashid Minhas Road, the road going towards Pehlwan Goth from Jauhar Chowrangi has been designated.

To avoid traffic jams at Garden Chowk, commuters will be able to use the route going from Saeed Manzil towards Numaish and traffic moving from Garden towards Tower would be able to use the street towards the left of Capri Cinema.



For commuters going from Numaish towards Gurumandir, they would be able to use New MA Jinnah Road, Peoples Chowrangi or Gurumandir towards Soldier Bazaar.

For the traffic jam at Lasbela Chowk, commuters moving towards Gurumandir through Nazimabad would be able to use Jahangir Road and Teen Hatti through Dak Khana.
