KARACHI: The Rangers claimed on Monday to have arrested around a dozen suspects, including gangsters from Lyari, during ongoing raids and operations in Karachi. Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested a young suspect for burgling the house of his own friend in Shah Faisal Colony.
The suspects arrested by the paramilitary force have allegedly been involved in various cases of terrorism, targeted killings, robberies and drug peddling, said the Rangers spokesperson.
Two gangsters, identified as Gul Muhammad and Gul Faraz, who belonged to the Uzair Baloch gang based in Lyari, were busted during separate raids in the Chakiwara and Baghdadi areas of Lyari.

According to the spokesperson, they were involved in various cases, including hand grenade attacks and targeted killings in the Dubai Chowk and Singu Lane areas of Lyari.
Seven more suspected criminals were arrested during a raid conducted in Saudabad. The suspects arrested were identified as Shoaib, Azam, Amir, Saeed alias Bhola, Jahanzaib, Zohaib and Owais. They were allegedly involved in several cases of street crime and robbery. In another raid in Saudabad, a suspect, Yousuf, was detained. According to the spokesperson, he was wanted in several cases of street crime. Two more suspects, identified as Akmal and Nadeem, were arrested during raids in Mehmoodabad and Nazimabad. They were accused of being involved in drug peddling.
The Rangers also claimed to have recovered arms, ammunitions and narcotics from the arrested suspects while further investigations are under way.
Separately, Shah Faisal Colony police also claimed to have arrested a suspect for robbing the house of his close friend. Police said that the suspect, identified as Yasir, was arrested with the help of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.

The arrest was disclosed during a press conference held by SP Hassan Sardar. SP Sardar said the house owner, Shoaib Raza, lived abroad and had come to Karachi to attend his sister’s wedding. “The accused robbed his own friend’s house when the family was at dinner at Sea View,” the officer explained. The accused robbed over Rs500,000 cash along with other valuables of worth Rs4 million. SP Sardar said that the police managed to arrest him with the help of CCTV footage and recovered the stolen goods, while further investigations are under way.
