LAHORE:  

The Christian community of Youhanabad held a rally on Friday against drug peddling in area.  A number of residents and students from different schools participated in the rally. The Christian community said that a number of people lost their lives just because of the use of narcotics which should be checked at all costs.

Crackdown against spurious drugs continues

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Pakistan has 6.7 million drug users. As many as four million of these are addicts. Abuse of heroin is rampant and most come in from Afghanistan. UNODC calculates that more than 800,000 Pakistanis aged between 15 and 64 regularly use heroin. The number of injection drug users also increased sharply in the recent years.
