KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) reserved on Friday its verdict on the bail application of the main suspect in the Perween Rehman murder case.
The judge fixed April 26 to pronounce the verdict on the bail plea of Azam Swati. Swati, the prime suspect in the murder case of the Orangi Pilot Project's project director, was arrested in the first week of May last year.
Rehman was murdered while returning from her office in Qasba Colony in Orangi Town on March 13, 2013.

The police had booked him under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act as well as Sections 353, 324 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Swati was indicted in the case on November 8, 2016, in which the court had already declared co-accused Noor Muhammad and Ehsanud Din as proclaimed offenders.
On Friday, the police produced the suspect in the court.
The defence lawyer moved an application, pleading the court to grant post-arrest bail to his client. The special public prosecutor, however, opposed the bail plea, arguing that there was enough evidence to connect Swati's role in the murder.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge reserved the verdict on the bail appeal, which will be announced on April 26.
