Case registered against suspended SHO, four other officials in Karachi

They are accused of killing a man and injuring another during a fake encounter over a week ago

KARACHI: The police registered on Friday a case against a suspended SHO and four other officials for allegedly killing a person and injuring another during a fake encounter over a week ago.

The FIR was registered against police officer Meer Muhammad Lashari, ASI Muhammad Punhal, Khuda Bukhsh, Gulzar and an unidentified man on the direction of the inquiry committee comprising high-ranking officials.

The suspended policemen have been accused of killing Ashraf and injuring Akbar in a staged firing incident off Super Highway within the limits of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station on March 9.

Police submit inquiry report in court on 'fake' encounters

The family of the victims had staged a protest against the police for the alleged murder, after which the Sindh IG constituted a three-member committee of high-ranking officials to probe into the incident and ascertain facts.

The FIR No 70/2017 was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
