Real estate agent shot dead, wife wounded in Karachi

Couple believed to be attacked by relative over personal dispute

KARACHI: A real estate agent was shot dead and his wife wounded in a firing incident inside their house in the outskirts of the metropolis on Friday.

The incident took place at Sector 36-B, Taiser Town, within the limits of Surjani Town. The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Syed Nayab Alam, son of Syed Shabbir and the injured as Nabila, 35.

Both victims were wounded in a firing incident and rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, said police officials. However, Alam succumbed to his injuries during treatment, said the police. Nabila's condition was said to be stable.

Surjani SHO Mulazim Hussain, quoting initial investigation, said that the deceased recently had a dispute with his cousin, Samillah Khan alias Pappu. The incident took place when Alam, a real estate agent, and his wife Nabila, were fired at by Khan who entered Alam's house and opened indiscriminate fire, said Hussain.

Police officials said that a search for the culprit is under way.

However, no case was registered till the filing of this story.
