Karachi University rejects proposal to accommodate military personnel on campus
The VC also appreciated the city administration and officials for understanding the issue and evacuating the new pharmacy building, which was sought by the Deputy Commissioner of District East to be used as the accommodation of army officials for the upcoming census in the city.
Prof Khan further pointed out that the university administration cannot allow army troops to be accommodated in any of the academic buildings because such activities will affect academic activities.
The pharmacy department houses more than 1,800 students and several labs and classrooms are there in the building. The request by the DC was to accommodate around 1,000 officers at the campus, which was turned down on Tuesday when the Karachi University Teachers Society protested against the proposal and held a meeting with the VC.
