Two cops injured in shoot-out with dacoits near Kandhkot

Police conducted raid to recover three kidnapped persons, who were abducted by assailants late Wednesday night

SUKKUR: Two policemen were shot at and wounded during a shootout with the dacoits in the katcha area near Kandhkot on Thursday.

The police team conducted the raid in the katcha area situated within the limits of Durrani Mahar police to recover three kidnapped persons, who were abducted by armed assailants late Wednesday night.

The three men, identified as Allah Bux Awan, Rasheed Ahmed Awan and Bilawal Awan, were on their way to Kandhkot from Punjab in a truck, when they were kidnapped.

Kandhkot police launch operation

When they reached near Misri Sabzoi village in Ghoraghat police limits, a group of armed men intercepted and kidnapped them. A police team raided the katcha area of Durrani Mahar, where an exchange of firing took place between the police and the suspects.

As a result, head constable Ghulam Ali Behalkani and constable Gajan Sabzoi were injured in the shoot-out. The injured were rushed to a local hospital and later referred to Larkana hospital due to their critical condition.

Kashmore-Kandhkot SSP Fida Hussain Janwri confirmed the incident and said that the exchange of firing is still going on between the dacoits and the police. The SSP added that the kidnapped persons have been recovered, while a few suspects have been killed during the raid, who are yet to be identified.
