Suspected killer of journalist arrested

More than 12 years after a journalist was shot dead while on an investigative a story about supply of spurious medicines in Larkana, the district police claim to have arrested the murder suspect. The spokesman for the district police informed that the suspect Irfan Brohi was rounded up during a raid near Darra crossing by a police party led by SHO Badah police station Abdul Ghafoor Chutto.
There are also reports that the suspect surrendered voluntarily to the police. Zakir Hussain Dahar, aka Shan Dahar, who worked for a Urdu news channel was shot dead on the eve of January 1, 2014, in Badah town of Larkana outside a medical store located in the premises of a health facility. The police first registered an FIR under Anti-Terrorism Act. But they later claimed that he was hit by a stray bullet during celebratory firing on the new year eve. However, on his deathbed at Chandka Medical College Hospital in Larkana, the journalist blamed an influential person of Zehri tribe for the attack.
