The deceased, identified as Ikramullah, Ayaz, Sajid and Jibran, were said to be associated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
According to the statement issued by the Rangers media relations, the paramilitary force conducted an intelligence-based raid in Khairabad, Manghopir, on the tip-off of the presence of some 'hard core' militants in a house.
The militants opened fire on the Rangers and two suspected terrorists were killed on the spot in the exchange of fire, said the statement, adding that two more were killed while fleeing as the paramilitary soldiers chased them.
The Rangers asserted that the suspects were planning terrorist activities in the city on the eve of Independence Day and weapons were recovered from their possession.
The shootout in the remote part of the city lasted for half an hour during which contingents of the paramilitary force as well as police were called for backup.
