The Rangers informed the anti-terrorism courts’ administrative judge about the 90-day preventive detention of six suspected target killers affiliated with different political parties.
The paramilitary force’s law officer told the judge that Nadim alias Ajay, Abdul Rasheed alias Mama and Amin were involved in gang warfare in Lyari, while the others, Asif alias Bobby, Asif alias Sabunwala and Zubair alias Doctor, were affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. The law officer told the judge that the paramilitary force had ‘credible information’ against the suspects for their alleged involvement in targeted killings, extortion, kidnapping and other acts of terrorism. The suspects have been grilled for 90 days under section 11EEEE of the Anti-Terrorism Act, the court was informed in the detention order bearing the signature of a brigadier-ranked sector commander of the paramilitary force.
The court directed that a joint investigation committee be constituted within 15 days to question the suspects.
