Cricket: Zia calls for strict action

MULTAN: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Tauqeer Zia has called for strict action against the suspended trio if their allegations prove to be true. Zia told reporters that the property of Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif should be confiscated if there was any truth in the allegations made against them.

He said that there has been an increasing number of scandals brought to the media’s attention since 2003, which puts pressure on the PCB and hence affects the team’s performance in the World Cup. “There seems to be a conspiracy against Pakistan but the board is lazy in every matter.”

I respect your thoughts but I guess, you are getting a bit emotional on this issue. :))) Every one knows that English media is baised against pakistan and they dont let any chance go to disgrace pakistan. In 1992, they claimed that Pakistani bowlers are involved in ball tempering to make the ball reverse swing (Wasim and Waqar). My only point is, let ICC decide first. If it is proved that they are guilty then obviously what you are saying is right. But by giving statements before ICC hearing concludes, is not right. This happened with only pakistani players that they are considered guilty unless they are proven innocent. Ricky Ponting recently argued with Aleem Dar but he got away with only few thousand dollars fine. I can bet if it was done by a Pakistani Captain he would have been banned at least for couple of matches. This is the biased attitude towards Pakistani players. Dont forget, indian man is the president of ICC and these indians are famous on putting the knife in your from the back. I think people should not jump to conclusion like what Mr. Tauqeer Zia has done. Just wait for ICC to come up with their decision with concrete proof. I also want those proofs to be made public for everyone to see and believe that if ICC is banning these players, it is right to do so. I agree with you, if they are proven guilty they should be banned but not before that.
Zahid Khan | 13 years ago | Reply Shaukat Ali, You are missing a very basic point here and that's that these people have committed crime against all Pakistanis by taking money and miss-representing all Pakistanis. Because of these players I am ashamed to call myself a Pakistani. Where is your integrity? How dare you are objecting what Zia had to say. Zia has made a very good point and at a very good time because we don't want these money mongers to represent Pakistan ever again. These players should be banned to even play street cricket because we don't want to take a chance on them corrupting out younger generation. It’s should be honor to play for your country and represent your country in any sports and mind you that cricketers in Pakistan make more money than any other sportsmen in the country so its beyond me that these monkeys took money and in the process shamed us all and ICC. ICC cannot have these types of baggers be playing this game because cricket is gentlemen game and these players are not gentlemen. My request to all Pakistanis is that if you see any of these players in public, spit on their faces and let them know that they disgust you and they have dishonor you and the country. I am so glad that this whole matter is in ICC hands otherwise these players would have gotten just slap on their hands. We need ICC to clean Pakistan cricket by banning these payers for life. ICC, Please ban these payers for life and ban them to play even local cricket in Pakistan.
