Street crime: Woman dies after being drugged

Witnesses say the woman had been offered a juice by unidentified men

A woman died after being drugged and robbed by swindlers on Saturday. Police said some passers by found her lying unresponsive near Bismah graveyard on Lower Mall. “She was taken to Mian Munshi Hospital where doctors treating her pronounced her dead an hour later,” police said.


They said that witnesses had told them that the woman had been offered a juice by unidentified men. “They apparently stole valuables from her and then left her there,” police said, quoting the witnesses.

They said that the deceased had not been identified so far as no identification papers were found on her.

The body was sent to a mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Police said search was underway to track down relatives of the deceased.
